The ride of your life: who's driving?
One of the biggest challenges that most people face in the exiting times we live in, is the feeling that their lives are just spiralling out of control. They feel like the events and circumstances of their lives have lead them along a torturous route and that they have no control over all the misfortunes and wrong doings that brought them to this moment in time.
The truth is that your life will not change until and unless you assume full responsibility for it. Responsibility, or your ability to respond, is not a way of accepting some form of blame as most people think, but rather a way of accepting your ability to respond to any situation. It is absolutely critical to realize and accept that it is never the actual events of your life but only your responses to these events that will shape and create your life. You are never the creature of circumstances and you have the ultimate ability to consciously decide what things mean and how to respond to it. You are the only one that can and the only one that will take you where you want to go in your life.
Responsibility is not some skill you need to go and find outside of yourself but it is something you already possess. All you need to do is to assume this power that calls on you to stop blaming any and everything other than yourself. Most of us have been conditioned to blame someone else for the parts of our lives that don't work. When you take full responsibility for your life you put yourself back in charge; you get back in behind the wheel of your life and now you have the ability to control and direct your life the way you choose to. Are You Building Snowman of a Snowball
"Begin to free yourself at once by doing all that is possible with the means you have, and as you proceed in this spirit the way will open for you to do more." - ROBERT COLLIER
Momentum is what arouses action and puts things in motion. Once something is in motion it tends to stay in motion and as you build up speed you become unstoppable. With momentum your actions become self-reinforcing and the more you do the more you are capable of doing.
Without momentum you have to consistently apply a lot of effort and willpower that will eventually cause you to just give up. With momentum your truly leverage your actions and empower yourself to have a greater effect with less effort. You want your actions to become "effortless" and be in a state where everything just flows. This is where you create "magic" and where the process of achieving becomes just as joyous and fulfilling as the actual achievement. With momentum your actions become self-reinforcing and the more you do the more you are capable of doing. Click here to read more>>

Thoughts Are Things
“Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass.” - PAUL J. MEYER
The proper fruit of knowledge is action. It is true that gaining knowledge can make us feel more capable but knowledge in itself will not produce the results we really desire. One of the biggest myths that is prevalent in the information age is the notion that knowledge is power. Knowledge is not power. It is only potential power. What you do with what you know is where the real power is
Think of your knowledge and ideas as an elastic band. It has the ability to be stretched, but until and unless you stretch it you are not using it for its real purpose. Information is usually something external. When you learn it you transform it into knowledge and when you act on it, it becomes part of your life. To truly experience anything in life you must take action. Knowing simply isn't enough. We all want to feel and this only comes from engaging "all of you" - by engaging all of your senses to experience the fullness of life in all its abundance.

What if there was no failure?
They key to taking consistent action is to not try and overcome your fears but to embrace them. One of the most empowering beliefs you can adopt to assist you in becoming more action minded, is to realize that there are no failures, only results. Every action will produce a result and you are the judge and jury as to what that result means. Thomas Edison was the master of this belief. He “failed” more than a thousand times in trying to invent an electric light bulb. He just never saw any of his experiments as failures, but merely saw them as stepping stones; as a series of results that he had to learn from. He trusted that if he kept on going he will eventually achieve the desired result. Although he was ridiculed by all his peers he had persistence and knew that he cannot fail as long as he keeps taking action.
Success or failure is never based on the outcome of the situation but rather on your beliefs about what constitutes success or failure. If there are no failures what would you attempt that you feared in the past? If you had the belief that there are no failures but only results what would you attempt to do? The number one reason why people fail is not because of ability, talent or resources; but because they never even take the first step. They are immobilized by their fear of failing and looking bad. Can it be that not taking action and spending a lifetime wanting something in vain be the ultimate failure? What if taking action and producing a result means success and procrastination means failure? You get to choose. Read the full article here>>

The Universe Rewards Action
Knowing what to do is rarely the reason why people don’t take the necessary action to produce the results they desire. Most people know what to do, or at least how to find out what to do in order to make their lives work and have the success they desire. It is not knowing what to do but doing what you know that will most often make the real difference.
There are two very effective ideas that you can adopt and apply in your life right now to help you take action and produce real and measurable results. Firstly, realize that there are no failures, only outcomes. Action, and only action will produce results. Your fears are all made up and often based on other people’s perception of success and failure. Don’t try and fight against your fears, but use it and embrace it as a map or a guide for personal growth. Everything you want is on the other side of fear. When your fear is keeping you from taking action on some idea you should know that the rewards will come from using the fear as a call to take action, despite not feeling “comfortable” doing it. When you take action despite your fears you have to stretch yourself to do something that you previously could not do. Now you’ve grown in your capability to comfortably deal with it. Most of what we fear is based on not knowing the outcome; of feeling uncertain.
When you use fear to grow as a person you use fear like dumbbells to build your emotional muscle. So many books and teachers these days try and tell you how to overcome fear. Why? Fear is your friend and like any friend it only serves you if you treat it well. Trying to overcome it will leave you trying and not getting anywhere. Fear is a normal part of life and like all your emotions it serves a very important purpose in guiding your actions. When you use it you are guided in all your ways. If you ignore it you will be misguided and if you fight it you will always loose.
Don’t try and get everything right. Just get it started. So often we try to have everything perfect before we even attempt it and all too often we end up never even doing it. Getting it started is far more important as it builds momentum. Action breeds more action. Success is not a single cataclysmic event but rather a series of small successes each leading to and building on each other. Every action you take will produce a result and if you use that result as guidance for taking the next step you will eventually reach your destination.
"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

Easy does it, doesn't it?
"We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action." - Frank Tibolt
One of the major reasons why most people never achieve great is because they fail to even start. If you want to achieve something great the thought of it is often so overwhelming that most people never attempt it. They made it way too big in their heads, because if you think about it every great achievement happens by taking the first step and then taking a series of smaller steps. Neither success (nor failure) is a single cataclysmic event.
When you set out to accomplish something that seems “big” there is one essential skill you need to learn and that is to master the art of chunking things down. No matter how big the task you can always break it down into smaller “bitesized” tasks. Smaller tasks are less overwhelming and more believable and therefore you are more likely to take action.
Feeling overwhelmed by the “size” of the task is almost always imagined – you make the task out to be too difficult or too big. Whenever anything is “too” you should realize three things and act on it: Firstly you are making it up as nothing can be too – trust that you always have the ability to deal with anything that comes across your path. Secondly whenever you perceive anything as "too" you should know that it is only your perception – you are controlling and directing (or misdirecting) your focusing in such a way that you feel overwhelmed. Your focus equals your reality. Focus on that which you can control. Thirdly, Chunk it down – break the too up into smaller tasks that is not too. Just do something that you feel you can comfortably do and by doing this you will build momentum.
You do not have to see the whole staircase, you just need to see the next step! If you want to drive a thousand miles at night you won’t see the destination and your headlights only allow you to see a hundred yards in front of you. If you keep focusing in front of you and what you can see you will eventually be able to travel great distances. This is also very true for your life and it will empower you to make great journeys. Just take that first step and next one will unfold and become “visible” as you move forward and take the next and the next until you wake up one day to look back on a mighty mountain that you climbed without even noticing. A world famous mountaineer was once asked “how do you do it?” his answer was profound: “step by step!”

Are you living your life or still thinking about it?
“You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action.” - Tony Robbins
One of the biggest challenges with procrastination is that it makes you feel out of control. When you feel like life is controlling you, you will inevitable face some tough challenges in all areas of your life. You will have problems within yourself that you will find increasingly difficult to handle effectively. Procrastination is like weeds in your garden. At first you barely notice them until you wake up one morning to find that the weeds have taken your garden. Without an effective strategy to face procrastination head on and "kill" it while it's little, you will eventually have a lot more to deal with.
By developing your ability to take action; to "just do it" you develop your ability to make things happen. Successful people do things a certain way and they have a specific psychology that causes them to act almost instinctively. It is not your conditions that will determine the quality of your life, but rather your decisions about what things mean and what you need to do about it. Procrastinating and postponing will leave you stranded in a life of mediocrity where you are not all that you can be. A life where you are not truly fulfilled.
Whether you are procrastinating on big life decisions or on small annoying tasks, there is a strategy that will help you to eliminate procrastination. By learning and adopting the right psychology you will empower yourself to make the necessary changes. By discovering the cause of your behaviour you can change it and tap into your unconscious system that controls all your automatic "responses." (in)action is not a "passive read", but an action guide that not only tells you what to do, but gets you to do what you know. With a variety of exercises and action steps you are guided every step of the way to becoming more decisive and action-minded. Talk is cheap and only action gets rewarded.
There is a saying that "the universe rewards action" and this not only true but also absolute as everything you do in life has a consequence. Like The Butterfly Effect your small actions leads to an incredibly complicated array of events and circumstances that is way beyond what you or I can possibly comprehend. Life is like a symphony and only those who take out their earplugs get to hear it. Life is like a play and only those without their eye flaps get to see it.

Blast Through The Wall of Procrastination
It is not what we do every once in a while that determines your destiny but our consistent actions that determine our ultimate destination in life. To move in the direction you ultimately desire for your life, your destiny, it is absolutely critical to stay motivated. There is nothing like good motivational audio books to assist you and keep you on track in pursuing your goals.
There is a science to motivational audio books. Those individuals with the power to motivate us are indeed very special for the power of their words and actions inspire us to become more, bigger and better. As our knowledge of the workings of the human mind expand, the more we gain to understand what makes us do or not do what we do. There are numerous motivational audio books on the market by rare individuals that have mastered the principles of the human mind and who can pave a direct route to what motivates you. (read more on what motivation really is…)
Good motivational audio books will always assist you in defining goals for your life. Exciting goals will get you up early and keep you up late. They inspire you to marshal all your recourses and use everything you can possibly find within the sphere of your influence to bring them to fruition. Know that the human mind is always pursuing something. It is your task to direct your focus in what your mind pursues. Motivational audio books tap into the power of your mental focus. Whatever we focus on consistently we move towards. In his timeless classic, As a man Thinketh, James Allen states that by the power of our own thoughts we have made or unmade ourselves. If we don't consciously direct our thoughts into the direction we want our lives to go, then worry and anxiety will take over by default. There is more than enough negative influences around us all the time to grow a wonderful garden of weeds in our minds.
Listening to motivational audio books as part of your daily routine will help to keep your mind positive. Having a positive mental attitude is absolutely critical if we want to lead a happy and fulfilled life. It is even more important in achieving success as noting good can ever spring from a mind that is constantly focussed on negative and destructive thoughts. Tony Robbins once said something that changes my life. He said that what is wrong is always available, BUT so is what is right. It all comes down to what you choose to focus on. click here to read more>>

Diabetes and Exercise

There are two main types of diabetes, type I and type II. Type I diabetes is characterized by the pancreas making too little or no insulin. An individual with diabetes type I will have to inject insulin throughout the day in order to control glucose levels. Type II diabetes, also known as adult onset diabetes, is characterized by the pancreas not producing enough insulin to control glucose levels or the cells not responding to insulin. When a cell does not respond to insulin, it is known as insulin resistance. When a subject is diagnosed with type II diabetes, exercise and weight control are prescribed as measures to help with insulin resistance. If this does not control glucose levels, then medication is prescribed. The risk factors for type II diabetes include: inactivity, high cholesterol, obesity, and hypertension. Inactivity alone is a very strong risk factor that has been proven to lead to diabetes type II. Exercise will have a positive effect on diabetes type II while improving insulin sensitivity while type I cannot be controlled be an exercise program. Over 90% of individuals with diabetes have type II.
Exercise causes the body to process glucose faster, which lowers blood sugar. The more intense the exercise, the faster the body will utilize glucose. Therefore it is important to understand the differences in training with type I and type II diabetes. It is important for an individual who has diabetes to check with a physician before beginning an exercise program. When training with a diabetic, it is important to understand the dangers of injecting insulin immediately prior to exercise. An individual with type I diabetes injecting their normal amount of insulin for a sedentary situation can pose the risk of hypoglycemia or insulin shock during exercise. General exercise guidelines for type I are as follows: allow adequate rest during exercise sessions to prevent high blood pressure, use low impact exercises and avoid heavy weight lifting, and always have a supply of carbohydrates nearby. If blood sugar levels get too low, the individual may feel shaky, disoriented, hungry, anxious, become irritable or experience trembling. Consuming a carbohydrate snack or beverage will alleviate these symptoms in a matter of minutes.
Before engaging in exercise, it is important for blood sugar levels to be tested to make sure that they are not below 80 to 100 mg/dl range and not above 250 mg/dl. Glucose levels should also be tested before, during, after and three to five hours after exercise. During this recovery period (3-5 hours after exercise), it is important for diabetics to consume ample carbohydrates in order to prevent hypoglycemia. Exercise will greatly benefit an individual with type II diabetes because of its positive effects on insulin sensitivity.
Proper exercise and nutrition are the best forms of prevention for type II diabetics. It is important for training protocols to be repeated almost daily to help with sustaining insulin sensitivity. To prevent hypoglycemia, progressively work up to strenuous activity. As with individuals with type I diabetes, carbohydrates should also be present during training to assist in raising blood sugar levels if the individual becomes low.

Cellulite Be Gone!

Cellulite is a recent addition to the English language. In fact, it is not a medical term at all. It's a term used to describe the way your body appears when adipose tissue forms lobular formations just under the surface of the skin. In plain English the "cottage cheese look" or dimpling that occurs primarily on your thighs, legs and buttocks is a type of fatty tissue. Because the tissue forms in a "lump" close to the surface of the skin it gives it a very uneven and dimpled appearance. It is not medically harmful and it does not cause health problems. What it does do is cause you to feel less attractive when you wear your bathing suit. One myth about cellulite is that it is only obese people who suffer from it. The truth is that skinny people have cellulite too. Cellulite is primarily a cultural and cosmetic issue. Society thinks that smooth, unblemished skin is part of what makes people attractive. People with cosmetic blemishes such as acne scars, burn scars, cellulite or even birthmarks are seen as less attractive. The psychological and emotional turmoil that this can cause in a society that demands the appearance of physical perfection can be very damaging. Can we do anything about cellulite? Exercise and keeping your body toned and in shape have been shown to have a positive impact on the appearance of the skin. A diet that is balanced and wholesome has been shown to have benefits also. Hydration and maintaining a proper fluid balance in your body are also part of the solution. Staying in shape, eating right and staying hydrated are good for self esteem, decreasing negative energy and promoting a positive body image. Changing your perception about yourself may be one of the best things you can do to help with unwanted cellulite. A lot of products and devices are on the market that propose to help with eliminating cellulite. Many of them do not have scientific evidence to prove they are effective. Some may even be harmful if you are allergic to the ingredients. The methods used to prove effectiveness are time consuming, expensive at times and often not understood by the marketers trying to get a product to the consumer. The best way to find effective products and devices when there is a lack scientific proof is to find people who have used the products or devices and ask them if they worked. A good question to ask is "how long did it take to see results?" and "did the cream cause a rash?" In the case of devices the most obvious question would be "did it hurt?" In summary, that lumpy appearance on your body called cellulite is a normal part of your body just as a mole or a freckle might be. It isn't medically harmful but may make you feel uncomfortable about your body image. It can be reduced or eliminated but you will have to work for it. Some products or devices might be helpful but many are not.

Fun Fitness Tips

Getting and staying in shape doesn’t have to be dull and boring! Try some of these fun fitness activities to make your workout time more enjoyable.
MUSICAL EXERCIES – Put on your favourite music and do some yoga! No need for slow, elevator music. Move to your favourite beat. Or pop on the headphones or earphones and grab your MP3 or cassette player or handheld PC and bike to a nearby park. Too cold or rainy? Then head to a mall or other enclosed area where you can walk. Caution: make sure you are alert while listening to music with headphones or earphones.
FUN IN THE SUN – Check out the latest tanning solutions and try fun, scented versions with funky, multi-coloured sunglasses. Grab your cassette player or MP3 player and favourite tunes. And pack some flavoured water, new flavoured health bar that you’ve been dying to try and some frozen berries in your carryall for breaks and have a “sense”-ational time.
FITNESS CLASSES – Try out a new fitness class for fun. Enjoy a full water aerobics workout with less stress on your joints. Grab some colourful water gear and swim to the beat. Or try a dance or Jazzercise routine. No need to commit long-term, just ask about popping in for a class or two to check it out and enjoy. Meet new friends and get fit all at once.
VCR / DVD – Head to the library or local rental store and grab a fun fitness video or DVD. Crank up the sound when your favourite tunes come on and join the taped workout participants in the privacy of your own home.
GYM / FITNESS CENTER – Dig out those coupons you’ve been receiving in envelop mailers and those money saving coupon magazines. Again, no need to commit long-term. Just head on over and use the free or low-cost trial / invitational period and enjoy!
JOURNALING – Spice up your logging routine with an inexpensive new journal from a discount or dollar store nearby. Crate snazzy charts with coloured markers. Add bright coloured stickers for each workout. Paste or tape clipped pictures of your goals throughout the covers and inside sections. For example, paste pictures of that vacation spot you want to travel to with your new, healthy YOU wearing a new swimsuit. So add some fun in with your fitness activities. Wake up your senses with new taste, smells, sights, touches and sounds. Forget that “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” stuff. Workouts plus play make Jack a fun, fit boy!
